Terms and Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Local Buddy mobile application, website, and related services (the “Platform”). By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms.

Definitions

For the purposes of these Terms:

  • “Local Buddy”, “we”, “us”, or “our” refers to the operator of the Platform.
  • “Customer” means a user seeking services.
  • “Service Pro” means an independent professional or business offering services via the Platform.
  • “Booking” means a confirmed service request accepted by a Service Pro.
  • “Service Fee” means any fee charged by Local Buddy for use of the Platform.
  • “Services” means services provided by a Service Pro to a Customer.
  • “Contract” means the agreement formed directly between a Customer and a Service Pro once a Booking is accepted.

Nature of the platform

Marketplace Only

Local Buddy is an online marketplace that connects Customers and Service Pros.

We:

  • Do not provide the Services ourselves.
  • Are not a party to the Contract between Customer and Service Pro.
  • Do not supervise, control, or direct Service Pros.

Independent Contractors

Service Pros are independent contractors. Nothing in these Terms creates:

  • Employment
  • Partnership
  • Agency
  • Joint venture

between Local Buddy and any Service Pro.

Eligibility

To use the Platform, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Provide accurate and complete information.
  • Use the Platform in compliance with UK law

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Account Responsibility

You are solely responsible for:

  • Maintaining confidentiality of login details
  • All activity under your account
  • Ensuring your profile information is accurate

You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use.

Booking Process

Service Requests

Customers may submit a service request through the Platform specifying:

  • Service type
  • Date and time
  • Location
  • Any additional requirements

Acceptance

A Booking is only confirmed when:

  • A Service Pro accepts the request; and
  • Payment (if required upfront) is authorised.

Until acceptance, no Contract exists.

Contract Formation

Once a Booking is accepted, a legally binding Contract is formed directly between the Customer and the Service Pro. Local Buddy is not responsible for performance of that Contract.

Payment and fees

Payment Processing

Payments are processed via third-party providers. By using the Platform, you agree to their terms.

Platform Fees

Local Buddy may charge:

  • Service fees to Customers
  • Commission fees to Service Pros
  • Processing fees

All applicable fees will be disclosed before confirmation.

Taxes

Service Pros are solely responsible for:

  • Declaring income
  • Paying VAT (if applicable)
  • Meeting HMRC obligations

Local Buddy is not responsible for tax compliance of Service Pros

Cancellation and refunds

Customer Cancellations

If a Customer cancels:

  • More than 72 hours before the scheduled time → Full refund (less non-refundable processing fees, if applicable).
  • Within 24 hours → Service Pro may be entitled to a cancellation fee.
  • After service start time → No refund unless agreed by the Service Pro.

Service Pro Cancellations

If a Service Pro cancels after accepting:

  • The Customer will receive a full refund.
  • Repeated cancellations may result in suspension.

No-Shows

If a Customer fails to be present at the agreed time:

  • The Booking may be treated as completed.
  • No refund will be required.

If a Service Pro fails to attend:

  • The customer may request a refund.
  • Investigation may occur before a refund is issued.

Dispute Resolution process

Raising a Dispute

Customers must report issues within 48 hours of service completion.

Reports must include:

  • Description of the issue
  • Supporting evidence (photos/messages if applicable)

Review Process

Local Buddy may:

  • Request further information
  • Contact both parties
  • Temporarily withhold payment (if applicable)

Outcome

Local Buddy may, at its discretion:

  • Issue a partial refund
  • Issue a full refund
  • Reject the dispute

Our decision is final regarding Platform-facilitated payments.

Local Buddy does not act as a court or arbitrator but may mediate disputes at its discretion.

Service Pro obligations

Service Pros must:

  • Provide services lawfully and professionally
  • Hold required licences and insurance
  • Ensure qualifications (if legally required)
  • Provide accurate profile information

Service Pros must not:

  • Share contact details to bypass Platform fees
  • Encourage off-platform transactions
  • Engage in misleading or fraudulent conduct

Violation may result in permanent account termination.

Customer obligations

Customers must:

  • Provide accurate service information
  • Ensure safe access to the service location
  • Treat Service Pros respectfully.

Abusive or unsafe conduct may result in removal from the Platform.

Reviews and content

Users may leave reviews that must be:

  • Honest
  • Accurate
  • Non-defamatory

We may remove reviews that violate these standards.

Prohibited conduct

You must not:

  • Use the Platform for illegal activity
  • Attempt to hack, disrupt, or reverse engineer
  • Circumvent fees
  • Create duplicate accounts after suspension

Intellectual property

All content, branding, logos, and software are owned by Local Buddy or its licensors. You may not copy or exploit any material without written consent.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

Local Buddy shall not be liable for:

  • Service quality or performance
  • Loss of income, profits, or business
  • Indirect or consequential damages
  • Acts or omissions of Service Pros or Customers

Nothing excludes liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by negligence
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • Any liability that cannot be excluded under UK law

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Local Buddy against claims arising from:

  • Your breach of these Terms
  • Services provided or received
  • Your unlawful conduct

Suspension and termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts for:

  • Breach of terms.
  • Fraudulent activity.
  • Negative community impact.
  • At our sole discretion.

Users may close accounts at any time.

Data protection

Personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policyand UK GDPR.

Changes to terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
